Medical Illustrations:

Examples of Drawings and Illustrations

A number of pictures in digital storage were done by the late Arthur Chandler Jr., M.D. during his career as a radiologist. He prepared nearly fifteen hand-drawn notebooks of medical and radiological concepts as educational tools. Dr. Arthur Chandler Jr. taught at the University of Wisconsin Medical School and is credited with illustrations in The Essentials of Roentgen Interpretation by Paul, L. W. and Juhl, J. H.(1959) Paul B Hoeber, Inc. publisher.

Included here are examples of illustrations used by Mark C. Chandler, M.D. for lectures slides or as teaching tools for patients or for physicians. Dr. Mark Chandler has done many lectures and presentations on psychopharmacology. He has spoken for schools, parent groups, and medical meetings.

Anatomical drawings and diagrams of neuronal pathways have been ways health professionals learn the mechanics and communication systems of the body. Imaging of the brain and other parts of the body permits diagnostic accuracy previously impossible. Interpretation of these images is still a human endeavor requiring special perceptual skills which must be taught and practiced.
